One of the biggest struggles to face when moving and dancing with Jesus by faith is facing the fear of making a mistake. We have to find that delicate balance, where we let go of our insecurities and trust God, as we boldly make a move in one direction or another.
It is a beautiful thing to flow where God leads you to be, as a conduit of showing His perfectly planned masterpiece. Like water painting, there are times when you must move fluidly and quickly, like applying the stroke of paint, before the water dries.
There is not always time to sit and pray over each step, and those are the times when you must trust that you will flow together with Jesus as one, like a bride dancing with her Husband.
We have to be willing to make the first brushstroke of paint upon the pure white canvas, and the fear of making a mistake must be overcome in order to see the captivating picture as done.
I would have to say that the fear of making a mistake, which is like a fear of commitment, was one of my biggest enemies of faith living. At times, I was so afraid of making a mistake, that I would not move at all. I would become paralyzed with fear because it was so important to me that I only made the moves ordered by God, because I was lost without Him.
Yet moving by faith requires us to loosen up and trust more, and to know that God is orchestrating our steps, thoughts, and actions. A while back, I was faced with a huge decision about where God would send us next, and the time to make a choice was on the wire.
I had to book the right room that God was leading us to next, and there was no time for drawn out prayer and confirmations. I was in a pinch, and I was exceedingly terrified of making the wrong choice.
It was a heated time of decision. I wanted to be ONLY where God planned for me to be, and I absolutely could not get it wrong because of the dangers I was facing.
While I was looking through the Airbnb’s and praying, God was not telling me where to go, but He was giving me a faith test at that moment to make a move by faith, and to let go of my fear of making a mistake.
There was only one Airbnb that really caught my attention. There was only one Airbnb that I hoped that we could go. So I took a big deep breath, and then I moved through my fear of making a decision. I booked the room for a month, all while facing all the fears of all that could happen if I got it wrong.
And just like that, the room was booked, and my money was gone. I had paid for a month for a place that I chose entirely by hope, trust, and faith. When the day came that we moved into the new place, I was so startled by what I found. The building was in a division of Chicago called, “Wolf Point”.
It had all the things that a resort would have. There was a friendly concierge attendant, a fitness room at the top of a 40-floor building, a swimming pool, and recreation areas for reading and study.
As I was taking all this in, I had a dream from weeks ago flash before my eyes. I had remembered that I dreamed that God took us to stay at an Airbnb that was called, “Great Wolf Lodge”.
To those of you that know, Great Wolf Lodge is a water park hotel in Michigan, and it is a luxurious place for parents to take their children for a fun getaway. It has indoor water slides, and even an indoor lazy river. The rooms match the adventurous decor, making it feel like walking into a living fairytale.
Suddenly, I had realized that I had chosen the same place that God had shown me in my dreams of what would come. God knew where we would go. When I was booking the Airbnb, it did not show me the address until AFTER I made the booking. Sometimes the confirmation comes AFTER we take a leap of faith. He also knew what I would choose. He knew my heart better than I knew it myself, and I knew exactly what place I would hope to go to.
While we were at that resort Airbnb at Wolf Point, God also caused me to walk through an experience and faith lesson with Him that He had prophesied about 2 years prior. I went through a situation where I had to learn a big way to pray in order to survive. It was then that Jesus showed me a technique to help me pray, and He had me make it into a book, just like He had shown me years beforehand would come.
That book was actually published yesterday, and it is called “Filled the Boat”. It is a personal prayer lesson that Jesus took me through, and in the book, I share the beauty of it all with you. The book is a little breath of fresh air, and it was a big key to helping me through a very scary and treacherous time. If you would like to read it, the book is on my website, diamondsfromthedust.com and also on Amazon.
After I walked through facing the fear of making a mistake, by booking that room, I was able to see the breathtaking picture that God had painted for me to walk through, like seeing pink water lilies emerging over the murky waters of fear.
There are many times when walking by faith that you just have to follow your hopes and let go. Don’t be afraid to make a move, because fear will only cause you to freeze and do nothing. There is no beauty in that.
Very often, God will have us move and then give us confirmation afterward. Moving by faith, like painting on a white canvas, means going beyond those fears, and letting go.
But let me comfort you, as you start your next ‘painting’ with God, to know that God has already seen the end result, and He knew what you would do. He knows your thoughts before they are formed, and He has already gone before you to ensure that you come out in the place He has planned and promised all along.
When you just breathe and realize that God knows what you will do before you make any move, then you can move freely and naturally with faith and hope, knowing that God has already accounted for every mistake.
Like Bob Ross, God has already turned the mistakes into little birds perched on trees. There are no mistakes, when you choose to trust God to always be in the lead.
So just paint your heart out and go with the flow. Know that you are a conduit of God’s presence, and He is speaking through your hopes and inner knowing. Don’t be afraid to approach the blank canvas, because it is in the color where the beauty happens. You simply cannot go wrong, because God is always before you. He has seen the end, and He knows you better than you know your self. You, my friend, are in very good hands!
I love you,
Dannette
