In the Clouds

Those of you who have been keeping up with our story of following God through a daring, and wild, wholehearted surrender to His promises–know that God took us high up to a hotel that is practically hidden in the clouds. (It is not the one in the picture, though).

We are coming to the grand finale of our journey of promise with God, and He has been delivering me of all the generational idols, fears, lack-mind set, and doubts. It has been so rewarding but also so challenging. It is taking us out of the old and into the generational blessings that God has reserved.

When we started this recent journey back in July, there were times when we barely scraped by. I sat several times in Walmart parking lots, with no money for food and no money to get a hotel…and no one who was willing or able to help.

I pressed all of my faith in God through slobbery tears, just praying that He would show up as He promised that He would. There were nights when we ran out of food, and I would cry myself to sleep at night, just hoping that God would show up to honor His promise to support us through this with a refill on our food supply….and He always arrived just in time.

It has been a journey of learning to be content with both an abundance, and barely anything. Yet the promise God made me was for complete financial freedom, because He has big things for me to do. God has been showing me how to place my dependence on Him and not put my faith in man or money.

The promise that He gave me was in Hebrews 13,

Let your character [your moral essence, your inner nature] be free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He has said, “I will never [under any circumstances] desert you [nor give you up nor leave you without support, nor will I in any degree leave you helpless], nor will I forsake or let you down or relax My hold on you [assuredly not]!”

God wanted me to depend and rely on His promise to give us a financial abundance, a comfortable refuge, and plenty of food. I had to use all of my being to believe in His promise to uphold us throughout this journey.

God promised to send us His love support to cover everything, but there was a catch….it required 100 % obedience to go where He said and do what He told me to do. I learned that if I stepped out of His plan or made choices out of fear instead of faith, then I would enter outside His protection and promised provision.

I actually had that happen several times, as I ventured through this ‘faith school’ with Holy Spirit. Not only that, but I had my car taken away twice and had to get it back, because of my fear reactions.

One night, I even slept in the car, because I had acted out of fear, instead of faith. God told me that it happened because my fear caused me to cross over the spiritual fence of His protection. But even though I failed, God blessed us with so much goodness in the morning and a nice warm bed at a hotel.

Sometimes we suffered just because the devil is a thief, and that was when my car was stolen, and the other car parts were stolen. Right before we came to this place, I paid for an Airbnb for a month.

The property company took my money and then wrote me to say that I did not qualify through this screening process. They were only going to give me back $400 out of $3000, and I fell to the ground and wept with my whole body trembling.

It was complete injustice and an unfair judgement. Yet God didn’t want us to go there, and I had moved ahead too fast. I paid for that mistake and it hurt really bad. I ended up getting some back, but my heart was crushed from it.

How many nights I have wept before the Lord, just asking Him to give us a home where we didn’t have to move, or live without the comforts of a settled rest. To have to carry all that you own has been a great cost that I have had to pay to follow God through this winding road.

However, God promised that because I have waited so long, that my home from Him was going to be immensely glorious. I have paid the price for what God is doing and will do…it has cost my whole life.

But those who cling to their life will lose it, and those who give their lives to God with full trust will have it abundantly. All the money of the world belongs to Him, and trying to hold on…when He says release is only robbing God and sowing bad seeds for unwanted things.

We have gone from an end of comfort to the other, from low to high. God recently told me to risk it all for His promise and to go to a high-rise hotel in the middle of downtown Chicago.

He sent me off with only enough for a week, and told me that it was a step that would be life-changing. I won’t lie, it was terrifying….and yet exciting to take such big steps with God and put my faith into action.

Once we were halfway through our week, I started to sweat because I had no idea how we would have a place to stay after that. I only had a little over $300 that I had been saving for our food.

But then God showed me a star, and He started to refer to that star as a promise from Him. He said to help someone else have a promise fulfilled and that would cause us to be helped, as a way of sowing and reaping.

Right after that instruction from God, someone wrote to me in complete distress. She was $300 short to cover her food and rent. By that point, I knew what God was telling me to do, but my heart was racing on autopilot.

I remembered the times of nearly facing hunger, and I was really scared of having to suffer facing that fear again. It was like I was suddenly in the fire, but I knew that if I did not obey God’s leading that we would not survive.

So I gave the girl the rescue she needed to cover her promise from God for support. God promised to cover all of our needs in abundance out of His riches, but it doesn’t come without faith and obedience. Also, the promises of God do not prosper when mixed with unbelief, so it is crucial to build up the muscles of faith by action.

God had been telling me to empty myself completely (both with surrender and financially), for two reasons. One is to deliver me from the generational hoarding and fear of lack, that has hurt many. This whole journey is one of healing, encountering love, freedom, and deliverance, as God’s tangible words transforms my life.

The other reason was because it was a shortcut to creating wealth. God showed me mushrooms and how they ‘create’ their own wind but allowing themselves to evaporate. The evaporation process causes the wind to pick up and carry the spores, bringing a plethora of abundance….sometimes even overnight.

The same day that I allowed God to empty me completely, He sent me a surprise of $3000 overnight. Of course, my old “poor based” mentality wanted to run to the cheapest hotel I could find and pay for a month.

But God said NO. He told me to pay for another week at the high, high hotel in the clouds, and to pay for another week of parking….which is ridiculous here by the way LOL!

Once again, He was asking me to empty myself out completely. So I paid for another week of both, and then He asked me to lay some down to some else that He led me to give to, as a way to sow a seed for our food needs, and to help someone else shine in His love support.

To follow God in His ways will challenge every former understanding that we have been carrying. God doesn’t want us to live in the suffering of lack and sorrow, but He DOES want us to lean upon Him and put our trust in Him and not money.

I gave my life to God as a living offering and I go where He tells me because He is the one who is saving my life every day.

You must understand that this went against every ounce of flesh and doubt in my body. It took total trust and obedience to allow God to pour through my life in such an extreme way.

God promised that He is my Home and the support to carry us through this journey. I am like a butterfly, making my home wherever God tells me to go. Right now, God has led us up to the clouds, but before that, I was licking the pavement in the most humbling way, as we barely made it through each day and lived in the poorest ways.

Whether He takes us high, or whether He asks us to go low, I go where God goes. He is my HOME and the only true lover of my soul.

It has taken me on a 7-year journey of living by faith and growing my trust in Him to get to this moment. I can only hope that God will put on the grandest firework display at the end of this love story.

I have wept and suffered just as much as I have celebrated in hundreds of promises fulfilled. The price was in the pain, but the reward is in the intimacy of seeing God’s face in such a remarkable way.

The one thing that I want to share with you is that it never looks like it will happen before it does. Right before God fulfills a promise, there is a confrontation with doubt and fear. It is in that shadow of darkness, that the promise will suddenly appear.

So beloved, do not look at how impossible your situation may look. Do not look at what your bank account or what your pay schedule says. Look to the ONE who does the impossible, even when it looks, feels, and seems like nothing will ever change.

It happens at that moment of darkness, when you are tempted to cry and fall apart from the grief and pressure of the mountain of needs. The first step to seeing the impossible happen, is opening your heart just a little bit…and imagining that the most unbelievable thing could possibly could come true.

It is all about looking to Him….the One who created everything….and trusting that His is attentive to all of your hopes, needs, and dreams of seeing impossible seeming things come true.

When we lean into Him, despite how it looks, that is when God shows up and shows off with something incredibly real and so very big! I am praying Ephesians 3:20 over you, that God would do super abundantly more than your most treasured hopes, and deepest dreams. God will far out do them all! Amen. ♡
