Making Room for the New

To prepare me for what today would bring, I had a cozy encounter with Jesus last night when I was sleeping. He was encouraging me to let something go that I cherished in order to make room for what He had planned. Then all day long today, the Holy Spirit kept speaking to me through the leaves that were gracefully dancing across the sky that had been surrendered from the bare branches.

For as long as I can remember, the Lord has shown me leaves symbolically as a thing of change and of letting go. When it was finally time to be revealed, I was given the news that the grant that I had been expecting for the past 12 weeks that had originally been approved was suddenly reversed and is now denied. It was in the funding stage the last I heard and now it is gone.

The Father had promised that He would give this ministry a large grant so that we could transition into the new place that He wanted us to go. All this time I had thought that the original one that I had been fighting for with phone calls and confirming my bank numbers was the one that God promised.

Today I realized that it was not. However, even though everything that I had been hoping for had been blown away with the wind, the promise from God still stands and His plans to move us to the new place is still in place.

Those who God reveals things prophetically to can always see the end of a promise, but the way that it comes about is not always what we were expecting. Like a large tree, letting go of the old leaves, so that there is room for the new bud to grow, means that sometimes we have to let go of the way that we thought things were supposed to happen.

It can be a time of sorrow and disappointment. However, when a tree loses that colorful leaf, it is because the new thing that has been growing in is ready to take its place and the new bud pushes the old leaf away.

There is an encouraging message from Steve Harvey on this topic that I totally love, called “Be Ready to Receive”. It is only 6 minutes long and in this video, he shares a beautiful testimony of a person whose dream comes true when she finally lets go of what she had been holding onto.

Even though my head tells me that I should be deeply saddened by the third denial, I feel encouraged because that old application that I had been holding onto is finally out of the way and now there is nothing blocking me from seeing something new come into position.

Sometimes the end of a thing is the beginning and our troubles can lead right to the open door of our hopes coming true. With the seasons quickly progressing and winter coming soon, I am really hoping that God opens that door for us soon.

It was in my heart to share this message with you tonight because there is a change in the air and it may not look like something that we were expecting or hoping to happen. But now is a time when we have to trust God’s plan and remember that NOTHING changes His promise and nothing is ever a surprise to Him.

I’ll show up and take care of you as I promised and bring you back home. I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for. Jeremiah 29:11 MSG
